As you know, unmanned drones have become a critical tool in our war on terror. I’ve uncovered a brand-new defense stock pick that is the leader in one of the most promising areas of defense we’ve seen in years and is perfectly positioned to profit from the soaring growth in this field. It will be immune to budget cuts and reductions in defense spending… and is sure to rack up some huge profits for us in the months ahead. I’m targeting a 50% gain from current prices.

With the Patient Care and Affordability Act in front of the Supreme Court this week, we asked if you think the court will overturn healthcare reform. 45.9% of you said yes.
When Tom Katis was serving in Afghanistan, he and other soldiers needed to be able to coordinate immediately with several different groups of people at once. Standard walkie talkies couldn’t get the job done, and the idea for a smartphone app was born. Now Katis’ smartphone app called Voxer is catching on big. This free app turns iPhones and Android phones into multiuser walkie talkies, allowing you to push a button and send instant audio, text and photo messages to individuals and groups. Check it out for yourself here.

Best Buy (BBY) announced yesterday that they plan to close 50 of their big box retail stores after posting a $1.7 billion loss in their fiscal 4th quarter. Slipping sales and increased competition from online rivals are hurting the big box retailer, which says it will also focus on cutting costs and opening more of it’s smaller, cheaper Best Buy Mobile stores this year. Best Buy may have been yesterday’s big winner, but today the company risks being left behind — or worse, becoming the next Blockbusters.
And their number one rival? Internet giant Amazon. Where Best Buy is weighed down by their massive “big box” brick and mortar stores, gamechanger Amazon has upended the retail model and is winning the battle with lower overhead and better prices.
After a lull in the action, it was a big week for IPOs with 10 different companies making their debut. Three took off fast out of the gates: Vocera Communications (VCRA), which popped 32%, mobile ad company Millennial Media (MM), which jumped 92%, and organic food maker Annie’s (BNNY), which shocked everyone by rocketing 89%.
But several disappointed, including Café Press (PRSS) which ended the day flat, and Merrimack Pharmaceuticals (MACK), which was actually down 14%. As we’ve discussed before, it is very hard to make money in IPOs. The best share prices typically go to insiders and institutions, leaving individual investors like you chasing the stock on the way up and holding the bag in the post-IPO let down.
If you are interested in a little behind-the-scenes on why Annie’s jumped, here’s one take.
